13.1 miles in 2:21. Hardest thing I’ve ever done.
Tumbling from the friendly skies!
En route to SF for the half marathon. No more 16 hour work days until at least Tuesday.
Now here’s to runnin’ and wine swillin’.
Amen.
Holy crap, you guys.
I’m going to run a half marathon this week.
(Can you tell I’m already nervous!?)
What a weekend!
And it’s not even over yet.
I have:
- Tripped over a rug and nearly split my head open
- Ran a 10K race. New PR.
- Enjoyed yet another delicious burger from The Dram Shop
- Beat Jim handily, three games to none, in shuffleboard
- Watched PSU destory Michigan at the Big House, a first since 1996
- Boozed, gabbed, and footballed with some friends
- Soaked up the sun and walked to Red...
59:53 and maybe a concussion?
Bright and early at 8 AM today was the Nike Human 10K in Prospect Park. I’m a little sick and havent been sleeping well, plus it was supposed to pour, so needless to say, I wasnt terribly excited for this race.
To complicate matters, when I went to let Theodora in this morning, I tripped over a rug at the bottom of my stairs and flew head first into the front door of my building. I...
Awesome.
In one week and one day, I have to run my first half marathon. I havent worked out since Sunday because I could feel myself getting sick. I chugged oj. Pounded Emergen-C and echinacea. I tried to let myself rest.
Yesterday, I was at work for 14 hours. I got a bad night’s sleep and woke up this morning to the awful realization that I have a sinus infection, also known as my nemisis. It...
12 miles in 2:06.
Given the fact that it’s super rainy, cold and windy out, not a bad go at my second ever 12 mile run. I also turned off the autopause on my Garmin, so that time includes waiting at red lights and other general putzing.
I had no time goal for today. I just wanted to run. And run I did. It felt great.
Also, I found a great new route. I ran from my apartment, down 4th Avenue in Brooklyn, over...
The NYTimes' Roving Runner heads to Prospect Park →
I am so lucky to live by Prospect Park! It’s really a wonderful place to run (or picnic or play kickball or watch cool bands perform or other awesome stuff).
Two weeks from today
I will have (hopefully) run my first half marathon!
Is it just me?
Or did Stephanie Pratt get some plastic surgery recently? She looks less busted than she has in previous season of The Hills.
And this is what I think about at 7:45 AM on a Saturday.
Good morning.
Quark recipes?
katiepiemiscellany:
I have half a tub of leftover quark which I dont want to waste.
Any great recipe ideas?
Quark is a food, who knew?
(FYI for other non-in-the-know like me, according to Google, Quark cheese is a healthy substitute for sour cream that’s low in fat, high in protein and tastes great!)
So, here's the thing...

…I kind of went awol this weekend. I stayed with my brother on Thurs night and then again on Fri because of a time constraint, but then I stayed again on Sat for fun, and so I just got back to my apartment today.
I don’t have time to catch up with you all. I’ll probably spend this week checking my favorites individual pages to make sure that I didn’t miss anything big. And...
I guess painting my nails helped me run fast.
Because I ran a 5K today in 27:45, my fastest time ever and shattering my goal of 29:00 minutes.
I ran the first mile way too fast and instead of dying, like I’ve done in the past, I sustained my pace.
Mile 1: 8:52
Mile 2: 9:12
Mile 3: 8:44
Last lil bit: :54
My average pace was under 9:00 minute miles. Who am I, Ben Davis??
Maternity coat
georgiegirlnyc:
In terms of clothing, I think it is a lot easier to be pregnant during the Summer months. I know a lot of my Summer dresses could easily fit me when I was heavily pregnant. My biggest search for maternity clothing so far has been for a Winter coat. The choices are few and far between. I was flipping through InStyle magazine when I came across this Maternity Camel Convertible...

I am watching The Hills and The City and giving myself a manicure. Hardcore, I know.
Tonight's menu
I got the urge to cook this afternoon and since this almost never happens, Jim encouraged me to take over the kitchen.
So tonight, we will be enjoying the following:
To start, David Lebovitz’s Fig and Olive Tapenade, from his wonderful book, The Sweet Life in Paris. If you love Paris and you love food, you should read this book. This will be served with some French bread from this awesome...

Ben and Jerry, best friends since 7th grade, decided they want to start a food business together. At first they were thinking bagels would be a good choice, but then found out they would need $40k worth of equipment.
When they settled on ice cream, they learned how to make it via a five dollar Penn State correspondence course. Since they were broke, they split the cost of one course...
Where the Wild Things RAAAWWRRR!

NEWSWEEK: What do you say to parents who think the ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ film may be too scary?
Maurice Sendak: I would tell them to go to hell.
(This and more here)
Yes.
Dear Rain,
Please stay away from Central Park between the hours of 6 and 8 PM. I reeeeaaaaaaallly want to run eight miles outside tonight and not on a treadmill.
Pleeeease, I even brought my fuel belt to work.
Love,
Meghan

Frustration, by the numbers.
Leading up to January 2008, I ballooned from 155ish pounds to 190. I joined Weight Watchers for the first time and successfully lost 20 pounds. And then I got stuck at 170 pounds for two months. And then I got laid off from my job. And then I got a new job. And then I gained 10 of those 20 pounds back.
In April 2009, I decided I needed to get back on track. I didn’t sign up for WW again,...

Fuck yeah Martha Stewart.
So I definitely laughed so hard I nearly peed my pants/cried my eyes out during the last five minutes of The Office. Perfection.
